3 tips for staying motivated to move when you need it most

Yes! We totally know, the world is one crazy place at the moment. With things being very uncertain (most of the time), we think it’s the best time to really hone in on the things you can control in life right now, things like your physical health & wellness.

One of the things we’re currently hearing a lot form our community is how hard it is to find motivation at the moment. But, don’t despair, because today. We have our top 3, sure-fire tips to help you find motivation to stay fit & healthy when you need it most.

1.    Keep a solid routine in place.

To achieve anything, a really strong routine is always something we recommend, but even more so in times of uncertainty. In terms of your health and fitness, some routine based things to consider are:

-       Stick to the same time/ place you workout in each day

-       If you’re working from home, still try to wake up at a reasonable hour to fit your workout in before starting the work day to help clear your mind & feel fresh

-       Aim to get 10,000 steps in each day

-       Do what you enjoy so you’re more likely to stick to it

2.    Keep things manageable

To keep your same routine that you had for instance, prior to a lockdown may be a little bit of a hard stretch. But, what we can do is keep things manageable.  For instance:

-       Dedicating a set amount of time that works for you to fit in your workout. Sometimes all you have is 10 minutes, and that is ok.

-       Again, do what you enjoy so you actually stick to your plan

-       Keep things simple. A lounge room dance party for 15 minutes is plenty of time to get the blood pumping

-       Tune into one of our live or on-demand group fitness classes (they’re no longer than 30-40 minutes)

3.    Take off the pressure to be perfect.

Ahhh, if we had a dollar for every time we’ve posted or written about this, we’d have a lot of dollars! But it’s true, don’t put pressure on yourself to be a workout queen or achieve everything during this time. Do what works

-       Move every day

-       Get 10,000 steps in

-       Keep making healthy food swaps

-       Incorporate as much fresh fruit & vegetables into your diet as possible.

So, with everything that’s currently happening in the world, we hope this has provided you with a little bit of guidance and insight into what you can do now to help keep you motivated & on track.
