4 things that will happen when you add Pilates to your fitness regime

It’s no secret that at LFN, we’re obsessed with Pilates. From the feel good endorphins to the creation of new strength you didn’t know you had, there’s no hiding the fact that Pilates is one of the best forms of exercise we as women can be doing for our bodies.

With our 14 Day Pilates Challenge starting in just under a week, we wanted to share with you 4 things that will change when you start adding Pilates to your fitness routine (and falling in love with it too) .

1.    You’ll fall in love with moving slower

Pilates is founded on the concepts of smooth, controlled movements that stabilise and mobilise your body. When you start doing Pilates as part of your regular exercise routine, you’ll find that moving slower is actually a whole lot better for your body, especially if you’ve come from a background of lots of HIIT (high intensity) based training or high impact sports. Pilates gives you time & space to focus on your body, how it’s feeling & bring a feeling of ‘ease’ into your day.

2.    You’ll gain strength you didn’t know you could have

Pilates makes you strong! In a Pilates class, a lot of the work we do is based on body weight training. You’ll notice muscles in your upper body, legs, shoulders & core feeling a new sense of strength & power in ways you’ve never felt before.  In doing so, you’ll stand taller and move better throughout your every day life. That in itself is worth it’s weight in gold!

3.    You’ll notice how much your core does for you

In everything we do in Pilates, your core is at the centre of it (literally!).  Because we’re always activating & engaging all the muscles around your core, you’ll notice that sitting taller, walking taller and running better all become easier. A strong core= a strong body after all and that is exactly what Pilates will create for you!

4.    You’ll realise just how good your body was meant to feel

Truth be told, sometimes we’re just not doing the movement that is right for our bodies. Sometimes we’re not doing enough, sometimes we’re doing too much. Pilates helps you to find a balance, to move slow & in control & in doing that correct muscle imbalances or weaknesses & build up every single part of your body. In doing so, you’ll realise just how good your amazing body was designed ot feel!
